Connecting a Squarespace store

Step-by-step guide to connecting your Squarespace store to SimpledAId and adding the chat widget with Code Injection.

SimpledAId works with Squarespace as well as Shopify and WooCommerce. Connecting takes a few minutes and does not require a developer. There are two stages: letting the bot read your store, and adding the chat widget through Code Injection. If you are new here, start with what SimpledAId is.

Stage 1: let SimpledAId read your store

  1. On the SimpledAId homepage, paste your Squarespace store URL, for example https://yourbrand.com or your .squarespace.com address.
  2. Enter your email so we can send you your bot.
  3. SimpledAId crawls your public storefront: products, delivery and returns pages and any policies it can find. This builds the knowledge base the bot answers from.

Because the initial crawl reads your public storefront, you do not need to install anything yet to start chatting with your bot and checking the quality of its answers.

Stage 2: add the chat widget with Code Injection

When you are happy with the bot, add the widget so customers can use it:

  1. In your SimpledAId dashboard, copy your widget snippet.
  2. In your Squarespace dashboard, go to Settings, then Advanced, then Code Injection.
  3. Paste your snippet into the Footer box.
  4. Click Save. The chat widget now appears across your storefront.

Putting the snippet in the Footer box means it loads on every page and survives template changes. Code Injection requires a Business plan or a Commerce plan; it is not available on the Personal plan.

Keeping the bot up to date

When you add products or change shipping and returns information, SimpledAId re-reads your storefront so the bot stays accurate. You do not need to re-paste anything. If you make a large change and want it reflected straight away, you can trigger a refresh from the dashboard.
