Installing the widget snippet on any platform
How to add the SimpledAId chat widget to any website by pasting one snippet before the closing body tag.
SimpledAId is a single snippet of code, so it works on almost any website, not just Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix and Squarespace. If you run BigCommerce, Webflow, Magento, a custom build or anything else that lets you edit your site’s HTML, this guide is for you. If you are new here, start with what SimpledAId is.
Stage 1: let SimpledAId read your store
- On the SimpledAId homepage, paste your store URL.
- Enter your email so we can send you your bot.
- SimpledAId crawls your public storefront: products, delivery and returns pages and any policies it can find. This builds the knowledge base the bot answers from.
Because the initial crawl reads your public storefront, you do not need to install anything yet to start chatting with your bot and checking the quality of its answers.
Stage 2: add the chat widget
When you are happy with the bot, add the widget so customers can use it:
- In your SimpledAId dashboard, copy your widget snippet. It is one block of code that you do not need to edit.
- Open the place where your platform lets you add custom code. Most platforms have one, usually called Custom Code, Footer Scripts, Header and Footer, Code Injection or Embed Code.
- Paste the snippet so it loads on every page, just before the closing
</body>tag. - Save and publish. The chat widget now appears across your site.
If your platform does not have a custom code area, paste the snippet directly into your site template or layout file, again just before the closing </body> tag, so it loads on every page.
Why before the closing body tag
Placing the snippet just before </body> lets your page content load first, so the widget never slows down what your customers see. Adding it through a footer or site-wide code area, rather than editing a single page, means it stays in place when you update your theme or template.
Keeping the bot up to date
When you add products or change shipping and returns information, SimpledAId re-reads your storefront so the bot stays accurate. You do not need to re-paste the snippet. If you make a large change and want it reflected straight away, you can trigger a refresh from the dashboard.
Troubleshooting
- The widget is not showing. Confirm the snippet is on every page and sits just before
</body>, then clear any caching layer or CDN and reload. - It shows on one page but not others. You pasted it into a single page rather than a site-wide footer or code area. Move it to the site-wide area so it loads everywhere.
- The bot is missing a product. Make sure the product page is published and publicly visible, then refresh the crawl from the dashboard.
